If you are an educator employed by a school district working with ELL students and you are unable to download the kits, call to request a free copy (while supplies last) at 800-451-8058 or email ESCORT with your complete address and contact information at helpkits@escort.org.
College students and others taking courses in ELL are welcome to download the kit(s) to print or to use directly from their computers. We don't have enough resources to print and mail copies to each student. If you know a group or foundation that would help us to do that please put them in touch with us using the contact link at the top of every page.
This resource guide is designed for pre-K to Grade 6 teachers seeking ideas for recommended teaching strategies, lesson plans, and materials. Most of the strategies promoted here are recommended for ALL students, not just ELL students. What's inside?

The Help!Kit: A Resource Guide for Secondary Teachers of Migrant English Language Learners
This guide is a compendium of the latest research about best practices in teaching English language learners in content area courses. It is the middle and high school level sequel to Help! They Don't Speak English Starter Kit for Primary Teachers.
In addition to providing teachers with a resource to help boost the achievement of their LEP students, this guide addresses issues that are particularly relevant to the needs of migrant secondary students:
It is important to emphasize that most of the strategies promoted in this guide are ones that are characteristic of good teaching and will benefit all students, not just English language learners.

This guide is a resource for teachers working with students of adolescent age or older who are not in public school. Its focus is on survival English. Topics such as "food" and "clothing" have been chosen with ideas for lessons as well as sample activities for each. The teaching techniques presented include specific instructional strategies that are particularly useful for limited English proficient students. This guide also includes helpful tips based on teaching experience and a summary of adult second language acquisition.
